This past week I read in the news that more moms are breastfeeding their babies. In fact, according to new research, nearly 77 percent of news moms in 2010 gave breastfeeding a try. That’s great news as we all know the benefits that breast milk offers our babies. Yet the number of moms breastfeeding their twins is much lower. Part of the problem is that leaning how to juggle two (or more) babies is tricky business. But it can be done.
I’ve scoured the Internet and YouTube searching for the best how-to videos. Sadly, there are not very many hands-on videos that demonstrate step-by-step how to nurse multiples. And some of the ones that are available are not very good. Some are long-winded (Get to the point already!) while others are just “talking heads.” (Let’s see how it’s done, ladies!) It took me awhile but I culled through dozens and found some that are truly worthwhile. Below are my favorites.
This video shows step-by-step how to tandem nurse your twins without the help of another person. What’s even more amazing is that this mom obviously made the video all by herself, too. Although this video is truly worthwhile, it does not show how to help babies latch on.
At 14-minutes in length, this video is a bit long winded. That said, however, this mom gives lots of tips while demonstrating how to tandem nurse including how she manages to switch the babies mid session. Well worth the time to watch.
A well-produced video that chronicles the lives of three moms and their journey learning to breastfeed their twins. Not a lot of “how-to” shots but many tips and lots of encouragement.
Although this video isn’t geared towards moms of multiples, it does show step-by-step how to have baby properly latch on.
If you’re considering a breastfeeding pillow (and you should), this video highlights some of the benefits of the Twin Z Nursing Pillow.
A review of the Double Blessing Nursing Pillow. Mom shows how she straps on the pillow and gathers up her twins by herself.
